What is massaged - Body Zones

All the body is covered in Ayurveda and not only its physical dimension, but also its energy and emotional ones.

Feet and hands
Feet and hands are an essential part of the ayurvedic massage as they are the body extremities and are the location of key reflex and energy points. A specific copper bowl is used for the feet, not only does it have healing properties, but the sensation is very particular and is very much adapted to people suffering from over sensitive soles.

The back
The back is the center of the body when it comes to posture as all the muscle chain that supports our body is located there. It is also the highway of the nervous system and
controls all body parts and extremities. So it is logical that it suffers the most from muscular tensions due to physical and emotional strains. It is therefore a key part of the massage and a key focus of the Ayurvedic therapy.

The thorax
Housing the heart and the lungs, it controls and regulates stress as breathing is key in this process as it brings oxygen to the body and thus the heart rate. Its control through observation, understanding, dynamic and static exercices as well as comforting tension control through the massage of two key chakras (throat and heart) can greatlynhelp in the relaxation process during the massage but also have a longer lasting effect. The massage is here very soft, gentle and non obtrusive.

The abdomen
Located below the diaphragm, containing all the vital assimilation, digestive organs it is often the center of most emotional strains.
The massage has to be soft and can evolve to deeper touch to help unknot accumulated tensions and relieve internal pressures. This area of the body is very sensitive and upmost care is taken to work gently.

Shoulders, buttock, lower back
These parts of the body connect the trunck to the arms and legs and are often tension centers that need relieving. These areas are a subtle mix of bone, muscle and nerves, so upmost care must be taken when working on these and helping relieve the built up tensions. A correct massage of these areas will help locally but also with arm and leg movement.

Legs, Arms
Our legs support our weight and our arms are constantly used for balance and holding things. They both are comprissed of long bones and muscles that are constantly under strain. They are also the areas where joints are located such as the knees, the elbow, the ankle and the wrists that give us maximum mobility> Joints are key to a healthy mobility so they are naturally taken care of and massaged thouroughly. The muscles are massaged with strength and depth.

The face
The face is massage without any supplement with a high quality moisturizing cream made of Safran and Rose water.
